Terms of Use

Version 1.2 · Effective September 28, 2026 · Updated September 28, 2026

Your safety comes first. Appliances combine electricity, water, gas, heat and heavy moving parts, and RapidRepair's guidance comes from AI that can be wrong. Unplug the appliance and shut off its water and gas before you work on it, stop if anything seems unsafe, and call a licensed professional for gas, refrigerant or high-voltage work. Whether to attempt a repair is always your decision.

These Terms include a release. In section 3, you accept the risks of repairing an appliance and give up some claims against us, including claims of ordinary negligence. Please read it before you agree.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Nicholas Brown, a sole proprietor in California, United States, whose business, Brown Heuristics, develops and operates RapidRepair ("we", "us" or "our"). They cover the RapidRepair app and the rapidrepair.web.app website (together, "RapidRepair"). By creating an account or using RapidRepair, you agree to these Terms and confirm that you've read our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use RapidRepair.

If you agreed to an earlier version of these Terms, this version applies from when you accept it in the app, or thirty days after the effective date above, whichever comes first.

1. Who can use RapidRepair

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use RapidRepair. Where Apple or Google Play can tell us, the app checks whether you're 18 or older, and it won't let you use RapidRepair if they say you're under 18. Don't use RapidRepair if the law prohibits you from doing so.

2. What RapidRepair does

RapidRepair is an AI assistant for troubleshooting household appliances. It can identify an appliance from a photo of its model plate, ask about symptoms, suggest likely causes and checks, find manufacturers' manuals and repair videos, help identify parts, and guide you during a Live video session.

RapidRepair provides information only. It isn't a repair service, it doesn't send technicians and it doesn't sell parts.

3. Safety

  • Before working on an appliance, unplug it or switch off its circuit breaker, and shut off its water and gas supply.
  • If you smell gas, leave now. Don't flip switches, unplug anything, or use a lighter or your phone until you're outside. Once you're out, call your gas company's emergency line. Call 911 if the smell is strong, you hear hissing, or anyone feels dizzy or sick.
  • If you see smoke or sparks, stay back and don't touch the appliance. Switch off its breaker if you can reach the panel safely. If there are flames or the smoke doesn't stop, get everyone out and call 911.
  • RapidRepair isn't an emergency service and can't call anyone for you. In an emergency, call 911.
  • Don't open a sealed refrigeration system or handle refrigerant. U.S. federal law requires EPA Section 608 certification for that work.
  • Never disconnect a gas line or loosen a gas fitting, and don't work on your home's wiring or electrical panel. Those are jobs for a licensed gas fitter, plumber or electrician.
  • Microwave ovens can hold a dangerous high-voltage charge even when unplugged. Don't open a microwave's outer cabinet.
  • Never bypass, jumper, remove or disable a safety device, such as a thermal fuse, a high-limit thermostat, a door or lid switch, a flame sensor or a ground wire, not even briefly to see if it's the fault.
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area, and don't leave an opened appliance, its parts or your tools where they can reach them.
  • Use the right tools and protective gear, get help moving heavy appliances, and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Don't attempt a step you aren't sure you can do safely.
  • Before you turn the power, water or gas back on, put back every panel, guard, screw and ground wire. If you stop partway, leave the appliance unplugged with its water and gas off, and tell the people you live with.
  • Only work on an appliance you own or have permission to repair. If you rent, ask your landlord first. Follow local codes and get any permit the work needs.
  • A repair you make yourself may void your appliance's warranty or affect your insurance. Check before you start.
  • RapidRepair may pause, decline to give steps, ask you to confirm safety conditions or end a conversation when it detects a possible hazard. If it tells you to stop, stop, and don't try to get around it. RapidRepair can also miss hazards, so the absence of a warning doesn't mean a step is safe.

Before some higher-risk steps in Live, such as working near a capacitor or turning off an appliance's gas valve, the app shows you the risks and asks you to confirm that you understand them, that RapidRepair's AI can be wrong, and that you choose to continue at your own risk. We keep a record of each confirmation (see our Privacy Policy). Confirming doesn't make a step safe: stop if anything seems wrong.

Accepting the risks, and releasing us from claims

The risks. Repairing an appliance yourself can go badly wrong. You could get an electric shock or a burn, start a fire, cause a flood or a gas leak, be hurt by sharp edges, moving parts or a heavy appliance, or damage your home and belongings. Some of these can cause serious injury or death. RapidRepair's guidance comes from AI: it can be wrong or incomplete, and it can miss a hazard.

You accept them. Whether to attempt a repair is always your choice. If you go ahead, you do so at your own risk, and you accept all of these risks, including the risk that RapidRepair's guidance is wrong.

What you release. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release us from any claim for injury, death or damage to property that arises from a repair you attempt or from RapidRepair's guidance, including a claim of ordinary negligence: that we didn't take enough care in building RapidRepair or in the guidance it gave you. You give up those claims and agree not to sue us over them. This release also binds anyone who makes a claim on your behalf, such as your estate.

What it never covers. This release never covers: gross negligence, fraud or intentional harm on our part; any violation of the law by us, whether intentional or careless; or any other claim that the law doesn't allow you to give up.

4. AI guidance and its limits

  • RapidRepair's answers are generated by artificial intelligence (Google's Gemini models). They can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, even when they sound confident, and they can differ from one conversation to the next.
  • RapidRepair's guidance depends on what you tell it and show it. It can't inspect or test your appliance for itself.
  • RapidRepair's guidance isn't professional advice and isn't a substitute for a qualified technician or the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Check model numbers, part numbers, wiring and specifications against your appliance's label and manual before you buy parts or act on them.
  • If RapidRepair's guidance conflicts with the manufacturer's instructions, follow the manufacturer.
  • If an answer seems unsafe or wrong, don't act on it. You can report it with the flag on the answer.

5. Live video sessions

  • Live uses your camera and microphone to stream video and audio to Google's Gemini Live service so RapidRepair can guide you in real time. Our Privacy Policy explains how this works.
  • Live can see and hear anyone near your phone, not just you. Before you start, tell the people nearby and ask for their permission. If someone hasn't agreed, keep them out of the camera's view and mute the microphone while they talk. Never use Live to listen in on or capture other people's conversations. You're responsible for getting any consent the law requires from the people Live picks up. Only use Live where you're allowed to.
  • Keep your attention on the work. Set your phone somewhere stable rather than holding it near moving parts, water or exposed wiring.
  • Live time is measured while a session is connected and is deducted from your balance as described in the app.
  • Live camera walkthroughs aren't available for microwaves, because repairs inside a microwave's cabinet are dangerous even when it's unplugged. Chat can still help with checks you can do from outside.

6. Your account

  • Give accurate information, keep your sign-in details secure, and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use of your account. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • Each account is for one person. Don't share, sell or transfer your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings, or by following the steps at rapidrepair.web.app/delete-account.

7. Purchases, passes and plans

RapidRepair offers in-app purchases, which can include one-time passes, Live video minutes and a yearly plan. The price and what each purchase includes are shown in the app before you buy. The app store you buy from processes the payment: Google Play on Android, Apple on iPhone. That store's terms also apply to your purchase. Where the app describes something as unlimited, such as follow-up questions or guided repairs, it's still subject to the limits every account has against automated or abusive use, including a maximum number of answers per hour and per day.

Yearly plan

A yearly plan renews automatically at the end of each year at the price shown when you subscribed, unless you cancel. We'll tell you before any price change takes effect. About five weeks before each renewal, we'll send one reminder email to your account's email address with the renewal date, the price and how to cancel in the App Store or Google Play. During the last six weeks before a renewal, the same reminder appears on your plan card in the app. You can cancel at any time: in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, or on iPhone in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. On iPhone, cancel at least twenty-four hours before the end of the year you've paid for to stop the next renewal. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the year you've paid for. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription, and once your account is deleted we can't send you the reminder.

The yearly plan's Live minutes are for the year they come with, and they end if the plan is refunded. Each renewal starts a new allowance, and minutes left from the year before don't carry over. Live minutes you buy separately are kept apart: the plan's minutes are used first, and the plan's renewal, refund or end never touches the ones you bought.

Passes and Live minutes

Passes and Live minutes give you a limited, non-transferable right to use features in RapidRepair. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged or transferred, and can only be used on the account that bought them. Any limits or expiry are shown in the app when you buy. Unless the law requires otherwise, unused passes and minutes are lost when you delete your account.

Refunds

You can request a refund from the store you bought from, under its refund policy: through Google Play, or for App Store purchases at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides App Store refunds, and we can't issue them ourselves. You can also email us: we review requests individually and can refund Google Play orders. Nothing in these Terms limits refund rights you have under the law.

We may change prices, features and plans, but a change won't affect a purchase you've already made.

8. Acceptable use

When using RapidRepair, don't:

  • break the law, or use RapidRepair to harm people or property;
  • copy, scrape or resell RapidRepair or its content, or use it to build a competing product;
  • reverse engineer or tamper with the app, or get around usage limits, safety controls or purchase checks;
  • overload or disrupt our systems, or access RapidRepair with bots or other automated tools;
  • submit content that is illegal, sexually explicit, harassing or infringing, or that includes other people's personal information without their permission;
  • try to make RapidRepair produce harmful instructions or get around its safety rules; or
  • pretend to be someone else.

9. Your content and feedback

You keep ownership of the photos, video, audio, messages and other content you submit. You give us, and the service providers we use, a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process and transmit that content only to operate, secure and support RapidRepair and, if you choose to share feedback, to improve it. You're responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to share it.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

10. Manuals, videos, retailers and other services

  • Manuals: manuals and other documents belong to their manufacturers. RapidRepair finds and uses publicly available copies and doesn't guarantee that they're accurate, complete or current.
  • Videos: RapidRepair uses YouTube API Services to show repair videos. By watching videos in RapidRepair, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
  • Retailers: links to buy parts take you to independent retailers, and any purchase, including its price, delivery, returns and warranty, is between you and that retailer. RapidRepair can't confirm that a part will fit your appliance or fix the problem, so check the part number against your model before you buy. Some links may include referral codes that could earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.
  • No affiliation: RapidRepair isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any appliance manufacturer or retailer unless we clearly say so. Brand names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify products.
  • Other providers: Google, Apple and RevenueCat provide parts of the service under their own terms.

11. Our intellectual property

RapidRepair, including its software, design, text and branding, belongs to us and our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the app for your own purposes under these Terms. Open-source components are licensed under their own terms.

12. Disclaimers

RapidRepair is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that RapidRepair will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it can diagnose or fix any particular appliance. Some states don't allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from RapidRepair or from a repair you attempt. Our total liability for all other claims relating to RapidRepair is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for RapidRepair, including through Google Play or the App Store, in the twelve months before the claim, and US$100.

These limits don't apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, to liability for fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, or to any other liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit. They are separate from the release in section 3, which still applies.

14. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law, or misused RapidRepair, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs arising from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access to RapidRepair if you break these Terms, if you misuse RapidRepair, if we reasonably believe your use puts people or property at risk, or if we have to for legal or security reasons. You can stop using RapidRepair and delete your account at any time. If we discontinue RapidRepair, we'll give reasonable notice and handle unused purchases as the law and the app stores' policies require. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including sections 3, 9 and 11 through 19, will continue.

16. Disputes and governing law

If you have a dispute with us, please email us first so we can try to resolve it informally within thirty days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court. Otherwise, any claim will be heard in the state or federal courts located in San Mateo County, California, and both of us consent to their jurisdiction. If you live outside California, you keep any protections of your local law that can't be waived by agreement.

17. Changes

We may update RapidRepair and these Terms. For material changes, we'll post the new version with a new version number and effective date, and the app will ask you to agree to it before you can keep using the app. Changes apply going forward. If you don't agree to updated Terms, stop using RapidRepair; the same screen lets you sign out or delete your account.

18. General terms

These Terms, our Privacy Policy and the confirmations you give in the app (section 3) are the entire agreement between you and us about RapidRepair. We may send you notices, such as the renewal reminder in section 7, by email to your account's email address or in the app, and you agree to receive them that way. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, it applies as far as the law allows, and the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a provision, that isn't a waiver. You can't transfer these Terms to anyone else; we may transfer them to someone who takes over RapidRepair. Neither Google LLC nor Apple Inc. is a party to these Terms, and neither is responsible for RapidRepair, except as section 19 says for Apple.

19. If you got RapidRepair from the App Store

If you downloaded RapidRepair from Apple's App Store, these terms also apply:

  • Your license to the app itself comes from Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, and you may use the app only on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules allow. These Terms cover the RapidRepair service you use through it.
  • These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for RapidRepair and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for RapidRepair. Contact us instead (section 20).
  • If RapidRepair fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app itself, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for RapidRepair, and any other claims, losses or costs from a failure to meet a warranty are ours to deal with under these Terms.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claim about RapidRepair or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection claims.
  • If someone claims that RapidRepair or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use RapidRepair, such as your wireless data plan's.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
